According to the Georgia Department of Education, classroom camera requirements during state testing periods specify that assigned camera users must not access their camera's Live View video/audio feed or schedule classroom recordings while any state testing is being administered.
Guidance for Kloud-12 districts is as follows:
- Kloud-12 SERVERS will be DISABLED during state testing, preventing recordings through User Accounts during the designated time period.
- Kloud-12 NVR(s) WILL CONTINUE RECORDING for security purposes.
Kloud-12 will collaborate with each district to determine their preference for handling camera blackout during state testing periods.
Options for Camera Blackout for State Testing Compliance:
-
Kloud-12 Will Disable Teacher Dashboard Access at the Server Level - Ensures NVR Coverage:
- Teacher dashboard access will be disabled according to the district's testing schedule. This method is site-wide and may impact specific classrooms not holding testing.
- This method is recommended by our team to allow the NVR to continue functioning, enabling admin-only NVR access in case of incidents.
- Dashboard access will be blocked from 11 PM the preceding testing day (Friday for Monday testing) and restored at 11 PM the day testing ends.
- This blackout ensures cameras are not accessible through the user dashboard but continue recording as security backup on the NVR.
- Note that individual cameras cannot be disabled by Kloud-12 during state testing, only the entire building's server.
-
District Technology Staff Will Disconnect Individual Cameras On Site - Disables NVR Coverage:
- The district will be responsible for disconnecting individual cameras. School technology staff will unplug the cameras directly from the network port during the testing period.
- This method allows the school or district to manage the schedules of individual classrooms and avoid a full building shutdown of Kloud-12.
- Any unplugged camera will be inaccessible on both the user dashboard and NVR backup, and will not record security footage until reconnected to the network port.
- Kloud-12 cannot remotely access cameras for support issues while they are disabled.
State Testing Dates:
If the district elects to have Kloud-12 manage camera blackouts at the server level, Kloud-12 will reach out to district contacts annually to collect the start and end dates for testing periods at each site with Kloud-12 classroom cameras. Once the dates are collected, they are added to a blackout schedule. Kloud-12's Technical Team manages the process by enabling the server blackout before the testing starts and disabling it at the end of the last day of testing. Building-level administrators will receive reminder notices before and after the blackout occurs.
If the district elects to manage blackouts themselves at the camera level, Testing dates do not need to be collected. However, Kloud-12 requests that a notice of purposely offline cameras be submitted to our team at support@kloud-12.com. This ensures we are aware of the planned outage and do not attempt to resolve technical issues on cameras that have been unplugged by the district for testing compliance.
If you have any questions on this policy or the procedure itself, please contact us at support@kloud-12.com and our team will assist you.
